~ Family Vacay to Kansas City ~

We took our first "Family Vacation" that didn't involve a tent to Kansas City to see Grant's sister Jennifer and her family. We had a great time. We went to a place called Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead...let me just say, I totally recommend it! First of all, it's free. Yes, FREE! They have a lot of animals like goats, bobcats, pigs, horses, etc in pens. You can buy food for them ... that costs a quarter ... and feed them. They have a playground, a lake, an old school house, lots of landscaping, and tons of animals. Overall, a GREAT place to spend the day!

Garrett, Jennifer, Schylar, Malachi, Mark, Michael, Gunner, and Grant at the koi fish pond:
Gunner wanting to fish all by himself and not too happy about me "helping."
This is a larger pic of the fishing pond. It was huge, had a bridge to an island thing, lots of trees and benches. Okay, so I told you this place was free. Then, you can rent these cane poles for $3 and that comes with a bucket of worms for fishing...catch and release of course! The kids absolutely loved it! I think they caught a total of 8 or so fish.
The boys just hangin' out...they had so much fun together.
Gunner checkin' out something in a pen.
Garrett and Gunner LOVED feeding the goats...
So, our day at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead cost us $6.25 for poles, worms, and goat food. We had so much fun and could have probably stayed longer if they weren't closing and the kids weren't ready for dinner.

We also spent a day at World's of Fun. The kids absolutely loved it.
Family pic at Camp Snoopy in WoF. Gunner was already worn out!
Garrett loved the bumper cars! He was quite a good driver and avoided the multiple pile-ups of underage drivers.
The carousel ride: Gunner was so in love with the colors, the animals, and the lights...until it started moving and then he wanted to be held while just touching the horse with his hand. This pic was before it started though and he was checkin' out daddy and brother up ahead.

We had a fabulous time. Cousin Chelsey and her friend Kristen watched the boys while the adults went back to World's of Fun and rode the roller coasters. We really enjoyed our night out! Thanks again Sperl family for letting us stay with you and taking us all around KC. I'm looking forward to bringing the boys next summer!
