Swing batter, batter, batter, batter....

We signed Garrett up for T-ball this year. We were hesitant at first and even thought about waiting another year. He's only 4 and we're just not into pressuring our kids into sports especially at such a young age. T-ball actually begins at age 3 here in Skiatook (crazy, huh? This town is some kind of enthusiastic when it comes to sports!). Anyways, our coach is the husband of a teacher I work with. Coach Hall is AWESOME! He played baseball in high school (in our hometown no less! He was actually a year younger than me in high school...small world!) so he at least has a back ground in the game...unlike the rest of us! He has a daughter who is Gunner's age, so he doesn't actually have any kids on the team. He is doing a great job with this group of young 'uns! Our team name is "The Rookies" which is so fitting since it is his first stint at coaching and most of the team's first year of playing!

Here's our little "Rookie"...

Yes, our kid has red shoes that don't match the uniform! Cleats are optional at this age and, honestly, I think it is ridiculous to buy them if they aren't required. They are expensive and they only wear them one season. We weren't even sure how Garrett would like baseball, so why jack up the expense when you can borrow from friends on Facebook? (Thanks Tricia!) Besides, it makes it easy to spot him on the field!
